Algeria Report Nigeria To FIFA Over Mikel Obi’s Goal In World Cup Qualifier Match
An agitated Algerian fan, has started an online petition, to protest John Mikel Obi’s goal, in their 3-1 defeat to Nigeria in a 2018 World Cup qualifying game played last weekend.
Mikel Obi doubled the Super Eagles lead, after Etebo Oghenekaro found him unmarked inside the box with a slide rule pass.
Although Nabil Bentaleb pulled one back for the Desert Foxes, Victor Moses completed his brace late in the second half, as Nigeria secured all three points.
Algeria coach, Georges Leekens, has already blamed Gambian referee, Bakary Papa Gassama, for allowing Mikel Obi‘s goal stand . Also, soccer experts in the North African country, have analyzed video replays and insist the Chelsea midfielder was offside.
They have now called on FIFA, to ban Gassama from officiating games in the 2018 World Cup qualifying series, as they have not won a game he handled.
