Rohr Set To Drop Echiejile As Super Eagles Left Back (See Why)
Elderson Echiejile’s position as the first-choice left-back in the Super Eagles squad is under threat.
Officials have told AfricanFootball that Gernot Rohr is not impressed with his full-backs and is scouting Europe for able replacements.
“Rohr has admitted his fullbacks still lack the mental strength needed for tougher challenges and that perhaps explains the special drilling Elderson Echiejile got before the game with Algeria,” a team official said.“The left back position is also under serious scrutiny, just like the right back.”
Echiejile, who is now 28, has started in Rohr’s first three games, but has not started a league match since Standard Liege’s 3-1 defeat to KV Oostende on October 30.
