A really poisonous snake has been found wrapped around a Christmas tree like some tinsel recently in Australia.
According to Daily Star UK, the killer tiger snake was spotted by a woman preparing her house for the festive season on Sunday. The discovery sparked commotion in the house.
Bites from the creature can cause numbness, sweating, breathing difficulties and even paralysis.
The woman’s brightly decorated tree was perfect camouflage for the golden brown poisonous visitor at her home in Melbourne, Australia.
Snake catcher Barry Goldsmith was called to the scene and it took him 20 minutes to snare the metre-long animal.
He said the woman remained calm and “reacted quite well” to the slithering invader.
"She left the room, put a towel down as a door jam and came and rang me," Mr Goldsmith said.
He went on: “She didn’t panic, she just took a photo and sent it to the snake catcher, me, and 20 minutes later I had the little bugger in a bag.”
Barry later released the tiger snake, which is a protected species in Australia, back into the wild.
He added: “Have a happy and safe holiday season and be nice to snakes.”
Barry said it’s not unusual to find snakes in the strangest of places.
He told The Herald Sun: "I've found them in Ugg boots, washing machines, dog kennels, cat boxes, toilets, kitchen cupboards and bookcases.”
